Version 2606 ends first, on October 13, 2026, and version 2608 follows on December 8, 2026. The dates are from the supported versions table on Microsoft's update history page for Microsoft 365 Apps. Version numbers are year and month: 2607 is the July 2026 version. A version appears on Current Channel first and reaches Monthly Enterprise Channel on a later second Tuesday. On Current Channel only the newest version is supported, so there 2606 and 2607 have already been replaced. Versions 2605 and older are out of service on every channel. What changed in July 2026
For years the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel was the slow lane: feature updates twice a year and, until mid 2025, fourteen months of support per version. Microsoft cut that to eight months in July 2025, and from July 2026 the channel receives feature and security updates monthly, on the same basis as Monthly Enterprise Channel. Microsoft's supported versions table now shows the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel receiving Monthly Enterprise Channel builds, with the same end-of-service dates.
The practical effect: there is no longer a Microsoft 365 Apps channel on which a version lasts more than about three months. The products with a fixed feature set are the separate volume-licensed ones, Office LTSC 2024 and Office LTSC 2021, which have their own fixed lifecycles: see Office 2024 and Office 2021.
What to do
- Find devices that have stopped updating. Compare the version each device reports with the supported list. Anything on 2605 or older is out of service on every channel.
- If you were on Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel for stability, plan for monthly feature change, or move the devices that truly cannot change to an LTSC product.
- Let devices update from Microsoft's content delivery network where you can. Microsoft recommends it, and it removes the stale internal share as a cause of unsupported versions.
- Check the version on a device from any app: File, then Account. The channel, version and build are under About.
