Juniper QFX Series (hardware) lifecycle status — the real story
Juniper QFX Series is the hardware under Junos OS in the data centre: the QFX5100, QFX5110, QFX5120, QFX5200 and QFX5210 fixed switches, the QFX10002 fixed and QFX10008/QFX10016 modular spine switches, and the retired QFabric generation (QFX3500, QFX3600 nodes, QFX3008-I interconnect, QFX3100 director). Cycles on this page are switch models, so it is the hardware companion to the Junos OS software page; the exploited Junos CVEs in CISA's KEV catalog are tracked there. Every date comes from Juniper's own QFX Series Hardware Dates and Milestones page (public, no login, static table; vendor stamp Last updated 15 Sept 2026), re-checked at every build. The page is SKU-level; each vendor row is mapped to the model it describes and the SKUs are listed in the release column. Cable, optic, line-card, licence and SKU-transformation rows are not modelled; Juniper states on the page that SKU transformation announcements do not indicate the underlying products are end-of-sale or end-of-life.
Field mapping, identical to the Juniper SRX page: support is Juniper's Last Order date; eol is Juniper's End of Support (the last date to receive maintenance support, excluding engineering support). The announcement date and the End of Engineering date (newer rows) or the Same Day Support Discontinued date (older rows) are carried as supportMilestone, with the Technical Support Bulletin number where printed.
The dates that matter now. Juniper announced the QFX5110-48S and QFX5110-32Q end of life on July 15, 2026: last order July 15, 2027 and January 15, 2027, End of Engineering June 22, 2031 and January 15, 2030, Junos 25.4 last, End of Support July 15, 2032 and January 15, 2032. The QFX10002, QFX10008 and QFX10016 (announced July 15, 2025) left order on January 15, 2026, with End of Engineering January 15, 2029, Junos 24.4 last, and End of Support January 15, 2031. The QFX5100 line ends on July 1, 2027 (QFX5100-96S on December 31, 2027); the QFX5200-48Y on October 15, 2026. The SONiC variants of the QFX5200-32C and QFX5210-64C reached every milestone on November 15, 2024, while the Junos SKUs of those models carry only a SKU transformation and no end of life. Already past support: QFX5100-24Q-AA on August 31, 2025; QFX3100 on December 31, 2023; QFX3500 and QFX3600 on December 31, 2022; QFX3008-I on December 7, 2020.
The QFX5120, QFX5200-32C and QFX5210-64C are named on the page without a hardware end-of-life row and are listed without dates, which the EOS Edge Device feed reports as no date announced. Current models absent from the EOL page (QFX5130, QFX5220, QFX5230, QFX5240, QFX5700) are not listed.
Juniper QFX Series (hardware) release and support pattern
Of the 16 release lines tracked, 5 are past end of life and 11 are still within support. The next scheduled end of life is QFX5200-48Y on October 15, 2026 — 3 days from this build. The longest-supported line currently published is QFX5110-48S, to July 15, 2032.
Computed from the tracked release data at every build — the figures above are the dates in the table, restated, not an editorial estimate.
What does Juniper QFX Series (hardware) end of life mean for your organization?
When a version of Juniper QFX Series (hardware) reaches end of life, the maintainers stop issuing security patches. Vulnerabilities discovered after this date are publicly disclosed on the National Vulnerability Database, exploit code appears on GitHub, and your systems remain permanently exposed.
The CVE blind spot: A CVE-based scan does not show the accumulation of unpatched vulnerabilities in EOL software. Some scanners flag unsupported versions of common products, but coverage varies, and none of them give you the date in advance. With a zero-day, nobody knows about the vulnerability. With EOL software, the vulnerability is public — listed, rated, and often weaponized — but no vendor patch is coming. This is one of the most dangerous gaps in enterprise security posture.
Organizations running EOL Juniper QFX Series (hardware) should treat it as a vulnerability class in their risk register, apply compensating controls (network segmentation, enhanced monitoring, access restriction), and prioritize migration to a supported version.
Your options when Juniper QFX Series (hardware) reaches end of life
There are four realistic paths. Which one is right depends far more on how long the system needs to keep running than on the version you are on today.
| Option | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Move to a supported version | The system will outlive the current version's support window and you can schedule the work | Budget for compatibility testing, not just the upgrade itself — that is where the real cost sits |
| Replace the component | The project is unmaintained, or a better-supported alternative exists | The replacement has its own lifecycle and its own end-of-life date — you are changing vendors, not escaping the problem |
| Buy extended support | Migration is genuinely underway but cannot finish before the deadline, or the workload is frozen by certification or a third-party application | A bridge, not a destination — every year purchased is a year the migration still has to happen |
| Document accepted risk | The system is isolated, short-lived, or scheduled for retirement | Only defensible with real compensating controls and a written decision — auditors treat undocumented end-of-life software as a finding |
How to choose, in one question: how many more years does this system need to run? Under a year, extended support (where it exists) is usually cheaper than an emergency migration. One to three years, migrate — support purchased repeatedly costs more than doing the project once, and the project only gets harder as the version ages. Indefinitely, migrate now and plan the next migration before it surprises you.
Worth saying plainly, because vendors selling extended support rarely will: extended support is often the more expensive choice over a multi-year horizon. It is the right answer when a deadline is genuinely unreachable, not as a default. Compare the annual fee against the one-time cost of migrating before committing to either.

Extended Support Options
If you cannot migrate immediately, extended support vendors provide continued security patches for EOL Juniper QFX Series (hardware) versions. This is a bridge, not a permanent solution — plan your migration in parallel.
Juniper QFX Series (hardware) has 5 versions past end of life — security patches have stopped, but CVE disclosures haven't. Extended support past the official date exists for many products in this position — whether it exists for Juniper QFX Series (hardware) is exactly what we check. Tell us where to reach you and we'll reply with matched options and pricing guidance — or an honest "no vendor covers this."
