Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) lifecycle status — the real story

Ivanti Secure Appliance is the hardware and virtual platform under Ivanti Connect Secure and Ivanti Policy Secure: the ISA6000 and ISA8000 (c/f) physical appliances shipping since April and June 2022, the ISA4000-V, ISA6000-V and ISA8000-V virtual appliances, and the Pulse Secure Appliance (PSA) generation they replaced. Cycles on this page are appliance models, so it is the hardware companion to the Ivanti Connect Secure software page: the exploited CVEs that put Connect Secure in CISA's KEV catalog are software CVEs and are tracked there, but they run on these boxes.

Ivanti's End of Sale & End of Life notice for ISA6000 and ISA8000 (hub.ivanti.com knowledge base, created 2025-08-06, last modified 2026-08-31, customer-portal login required; read in-browser and verified 2026-09-02) states the reason plainly: the five major memory manufacturers discontinued DDR4 RAM, the appliances cannot be re-memoried, and DDR5 requires new hardware. Milestones: last day to order January 31, 2026; end of support and end of life on the same day, January 31, 2027, with support and RMAs continuing until then. The same notice fixes the virtual ISA4000-V, ISA6000-V and ISA8000-V at January 31, 2027, tracking their terminal software releases. Replacements are the DDR5-based ISA6500 and ISA8500 (available from March 2026) and the ISA4500-V, ISA6500-V and ISA8500-V virtual appliances (mid-2026), with a trade-in allowance and no licence repurchase.

The software coupling is the part inventories miss: after January 31, 2027 no 22.x Connect Secure release is supported on any hardware, and 22.7, 22.8, 25.1.0.x and 25.1.1.x entered End of Engineering retroactively on January 31, 2026 — in Ivanti's words they “remain supported until January 31, 2027, alongside the existing ISA6000/ISA8000 hardware”. 25.1.1.0 is the last release supported on the old boxes; 25.1.2.0 and later target ISA6500/8500 on Ivanti's quarterly N-2 model (about nine months per release). Field mapping on this page: support = last day to order, eol = end of support, extendedSupport = the final end-of-life date where Ivanti publishes one later than end of support (the PSA generation; for ISA the two fall on the same day). releaseDate is null — Ivanti states ship months, not launch dates.

The previous generation is the public precedent. Ivanti's Pulse Secure Appliance End of Life Notification (hub.ivanti.com knowledge base article 000083766, announced July 2022, last modified 2026-08-23) covers the whole PSA line — PSA 300c, 3000, 5000, 7000c/7000f and the PSA-V virtual appliances: last day to order January 15, 2023; end of support December 31, 2024; end of life December 23, 2025. Every PSA model is past end of life today, and its Connect Secure 9.1Rx legacy stack ended support on December 31, 2024.

Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) release and support pattern

Of the 13 release lines tracked, 8 are past end of life and 5 are still within support. The next scheduled end of life is ISA8000 on January 31, 2027 — 150 days from this build. The longest-supported line currently published is ISA4000-V, to January 31, 2027. Upstream also publishes an extended-support phase for 8 lines, shown in the table above.

Computed from the tracked release data at every build — the figures above are the dates in the table, restated, not an editorial estimate.

What does Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) end of life mean for your organization?

When a version of Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) reaches end of life, the maintainers stop issuing security patches. Vulnerabilities discovered after this date are publicly disclosed on the National Vulnerability Database, exploit code appears on GitHub, and your systems remain permanently exposed.

The CVE blind spot: Most vulnerability scanners check for known CVEs but do not flag the accumulation of unpatched vulnerabilities in EOL software. With a zero-day, nobody knows about the vulnerability. With EOL software, the vulnerability is public — listed, rated, and often weaponized — but no patch will ever exist. This is the most dangerous gap in enterprise security posture.

Organizations running EOL Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) should treat it as a vulnerability class in their risk register, apply compensating controls (network segmentation, enhanced monitoring, access restriction), and prioritize migration to a supported version.

Your options when Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) reaches end of life

There are four realistic paths. Which one is right depends far more on how long the system needs to keep running than on the version you are on today.

OptionBest whenWatch out for
Move to a supported version The system will outlive the current version's support window and you can schedule the work Budget for compatibility testing, not just the upgrade itself — that is where the real cost sits
Replace the component The project is unmaintained, or a better-supported alternative exists The replacement has its own lifecycle and its own end-of-life date — you are changing vendors, not escaping the problem
Buy extended support Migration is genuinely underway but cannot finish before the deadline, or the workload is frozen by certification or a third-party application A bridge, not a destination — every year purchased is a year the migration still has to happen
Document accepted risk The system is isolated, short-lived, or scheduled for retirement Only defensible with real compensating controls and a written decision — auditors treat undocumented end-of-life software as a finding

How to choose, in one question: how many more years does this system need to run? Under a year, extended support (where it exists) is usually cheaper than an emergency migration. One to three years, migrate — support purchased repeatedly costs more than doing the project once, and the project only gets harder as the version ages. Indefinitely, migrate now and plan the next migration before it surprises you.

Worth saying plainly, because vendors selling extended support rarely will: extended support is often the more expensive choice over a multi-year horizon. It is the right answer when a deadline is genuinely unreachable, not as a default. Compare the annual fee against the one-time cost of migrating before committing to either.

Extended Support Options

If you cannot migrate immediately, extended support vendors provide continued security patches for EOL Ivanti Secure Appliance (ISA / PSA) versions. This is a bridge, not a permanent solution — plan your migration in parallel.
