Check Point Gaia lifecycle status — the real story
Check Point’s Quantum Security Gateways run Gaia OS in major versions (R77 through R82.10) with a single published lifecycle milestone per version: Support Until. The policy commits to “a minimum of four years, starting from the general availability date” and aims “to support a minimum of two versions” at any time. Internet-facing Check Point gateways sit squarely in the edge-device class CISA’s BOD 26-02 targets, and Check Point gateway CVEs (CVE-2024-24919 among them) have reached CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
A precision note our schema forces us to state: Check Point publishes these dates at month granularity only — “Support Until: March 2026”, with no day. This page records each date as the first day of the stated month, the conservative reading (never overstating remaining support by up to 29 days). R81.10’s support ended March 2026 and R81’s in October 2024 — both lines are now unsupported; R81.20 runs until May 2027.

What does Check Point Gaia end of life mean for your organization?

How to choose, in one question: how many more years does this system need to run? Under a year, extended support (where it exists) is usually cheaper than an emergency migration. One to three years, migrate — support purchased repeatedly costs more than doing the project once, and the project only gets harder as the version ages. Indefinitely, migrate now and plan the next migration before it surprises you.
Worth saying plainly, because vendors selling extended support rarely will: extended support is often the more expensive choice over a multi-year horizon. It is the right answer when a deadline is genuinely unreachable, not as a default. Compare the annual fee against the one-time cost of migrating before committing to either.
