Juniper EX4300-48MP and EX4600 End of Life: Last Order December 29, 2026, End of Support December 29, 2031

By Scott Bissett  ·  Published: October 16, 2026  ·  Reference guide  ·  Dates read from Juniper's EX Series Hardware Dates and Milestones page at support.juniper.net on the day of publication and re-checked at every site build; milestone definitions from Juniper's Product End of Life Policy and Procedure.

Juniper takes its last orders for the EX4300-48MP and EX4600 switches on December 29, 2026. Juniper announced both end of life notices on the same day, June 29, 2026: TSB109284 for the EX4300-48MP and TSB109286 for the EX4600. The two models share every milestone on Juniper's EX Series Hardware Dates and Milestones page: Last Order on December 29, 2026, End of Engineering on December 29, 2029, and End of Support on December 29, 2031. What differs is the software: Juniper lists Junos OS 25.4 as the last software version for the EX4300-48MP and Junos OS 21.4 for the EX4600. Live status and EOL Risk Score are on the EX4600 and EX4300-48MP pages; every EX model Juniper has dated is on the Juniper EX Series page.

Quick answer: The Juniper EX4600 and EX4300-48MP can be ordered until December 29, 2026. Juniper's commitment to bug fixes and patches for them ends at End of Engineering, December 29, 2029, and maintenance support (support engineers, software downloads, hardware replacement) ends at End of Support, December 29, 2031. The EX4600's last Junos release, 21.4, is already past its own End of Support.

The dates, as Juniper prints them

Both rows come from the table on Juniper's EX Series hardware milestones page. Juniper's table also carries an End of Hardware Failure Analysis column for both models; it is on the vendor row and not repeated here.

What each milestone means, in Juniper's words

Juniper's Product End of Life Policy and Procedure defines the columns. Quoted from its EOL Key Milestone Definitions:

Juniper's termJuniper's definitionWhere it appears on this site
Last Order Date (LOD) or End of Sale"The last date on which purchase orders must be placed for the affected Juniper Product and for new support services contracts for such Product."The "active support" date on the Juniper EX Series page, whose notes explain that for Juniper hardware it is the Last Order date
End of Hardware Failure Analysis Date (EOHFA)"The date after which Juniper is no longer committed to perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of a Hardware failure as needed."Not tracked as a lifecycle date
End of Engineering Date (EOE)"The date after which Juniper no longer committed to furnish engineering level support (i.e., bug fixes, further main releases, maintenance releases, service releases and/or patches) for the affected Juniper Product."Named in the notes on the Juniper EX Series page; not a tracked lifecycle date
End of Support (EOS)"The last date to receive maintenance support (i.e., access to Juniper technical support engineers, access to software releases, Online tools, Hardware replacement. But, for the avoidance of doubt, excluding engineering support) for the affected Juniper Product."The end-of-life date on the Juniper EX Series page and on each model's page

Two lines from the same policy matter for planning. The milestones are announced in an End of Life Notification, "a specific type of Technical Support Bulletin", which "may also contain other key information pertaining to Juniper Products, such as recommended replacement Product(s)". And support of any kind is "contingent upon that customer having a valid, unexpired support service contract": the dates above are the limits of what a contract can buy, not support a switch gets without one.

Which part numbers the two announcements cover

Juniper's table lists the SKUs under each notice. Every part number below is copied from the vendor row.

Not every EX4300 is on this notice. The EX4300-48MP is the multigigabit model; the rest of the EX4300 line has its own, earlier dates on the same page. The copper EX4300-24P, 24T, 48P and 48T models had their last order on March 31, 2024 and reach End of Support on March 31, 2029; the fibre EX4300-32F had its last order on March 31, 2026 and reaches End of Support on March 31, 2029. Check the model number on the chassis label before planning by the dates in this guide.

The software question: Junos 25.4 and Junos 21.4

Juniper's table has a Last Software Version column, and it is where the two switches part ways.

Juniper's public pages do not say how fixes for the EX4600 are delivered between now and its hardware End of Engineering date; the hardware policy commits to bug fixes and patches for the product until that date, and the Junos page dates the 21.4 line itself. A network team with EX4600s should put that question to Juniper against TSB109286 rather than assume either answer.

The reason the software column matters: Junos OS on EX Series is in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. CVE-2023-36844, CVE-2023-36845 and CVE-2023-36847 are listed by CISA under names that include Juniper Junos OS EX Series. A switch that no longer receives Junos fixes has no path to the fix for the next one. The Junos OS page tracks every release line and its dates.

What replaces them

Juniper's policy says an End of Life Notification may name recommended replacement products. For these two switches the notifications are TSB109284 and TSB109286, reached from the Product link on Juniper's milestones page; they sit on Juniper's support portal behind a Juniper sign-in, and we could not read them publicly. The public milestones page names no successor, so this guide does not name one. The notification itself, or a Juniper account team, is the source for the recommended replacement and for any migration terms.

What to do

  1. Buying more of either model: the last order date is December 29, 2026, and it is also the last date to place a new support services contract for the product. Spares for an existing fleet are one reason to order before the date.
  2. Running EX4600s: treat the software as the nearer deadline. Junos OS 21.4 is past its End of Support; ask Juniper how fixes reach the EX4600 under TSB109286, and plan the replacement around the answer rather than around the 2031 hardware date.
  3. Running EX4300-48MPs: the switch can stay on a supported Junos line for longer, up to the 25.4 dates above. Plan replacement before End of Engineering, December 29, 2029, when Juniper's commitment to bug fixes and patches for the hardware ends.
  4. Keep a support contract until End of Support: December 29, 2031 is the last day of support engineers, software downloads and hardware replacement, and only under a valid contract.
  5. Check every EX model, not one: the EX2300 left sale on September 30, 2026 and reaches End of Support on September 30, 2031. The Juniper EX Series page re-reads Juniper's table at every build; the EOL Checker answers for a single model.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Juniper EX4600 end of life?

Juniper announced the end of life of the EX4600 in TSB109286. Its EX Series Hardware Dates and Milestones page gives a Last Order date of December 29, 2026 and an End of Support date of December 29, 2031, the last date to receive maintenance support. The EX4300-48MP, announced in TSB109284, has the same dates.

What does End of Engineering mean for the EX4300-48MP and EX4600?

Juniper's End of Life policy defines the End of Engineering date as the date after which Juniper is no longer committed to furnish engineering level support, meaning bug fixes, further main releases, maintenance releases, service releases and patches. For both switches Juniper's page gives an End of Engineering date of December 29, 2029. Between that date and End of Support, Juniper still provides maintenance support: technical support engineers, software release downloads, online tools and hardware replacement.

What is the last Junos release for the EX4600 and EX4300-48MP?

Juniper's hardware milestones page lists Junos OS 25.4 as the last software version for the EX4300-48MP and Junos OS 21.4 for the EX4600. On Juniper's Junos OS dates page, Junos OS 21.4 reached End of Support on June 20, 2025, so an EX4600 is on a release line whose software support has ended.

What replaces the EX4600 and EX4300-48MP?

Juniper's End of Life policy says an End of Life Notification may name recommended replacement products. For these switches the notifications are TSB109284 and TSB109286 on Juniper's support portal, which requires a Juniper sign-in. The public hardware milestones page names no successor, so this guide does not name one either; the notification or a Juniper account team is the source.
