Cisco Meraki End of Support: the MX84 Ends October 31, 2026, the MS450-12 Leaves Sale October 29, 2026, and the Rest of the Meraki Lifecycle

By Scott Bissett  ·  Published: October 11, 2026  ·  Reference guide  ·  Dates and definitions read from Cisco Meraki's End-of-Life (EOL) Products and Dates page at documentation.meraki.com on the day of publication and re-checked at every site build.

The Cisco Meraki MX84 security appliance reaches its End-of-Support date on October 31, 2026, five years after its End-of-Sale date of October 31, 2021. Both dates are from the row Meraki prints for the MX84-HW on its End-of-Life (EOL) Products and Dates page, the single public table that covers every Meraki security appliance, switch, access point, camera and cellular gateway Meraki has retired or announced. The same table dates the next arrivals: the MS450-12 aggregation switch leaves sale on October 29, 2026, the MX67C and MX68CW on November 27, 2026, and the MR36, MR36H, MR44, MR46 and MR46E access points on December 31, 2026. The MX84's live status and EOL Risk Score are on its page; every tracked model is on the Cisco Meraki page.

Quick answer: The Cisco Meraki MX84 End-of-Support date is October 31, 2026; it left sale on October 31, 2021. The MX100 follows on February 1, 2027, the MX64 and MX64W on July 26, 2027 and the vMX100 on December 22, 2027. Every Meraki model's End-of-Sale and End-of-Support date is on the Cisco Meraki lifecycle page.

Meraki's three dates, in Meraki's words

Meraki opens the page with its reasoning: "Cisco Meraki may find it necessary to discontinue products for a number of reasons, including product line enhancements, market demand, technology innovation, or if the product simply matures over time and needs to be replaced by something functionally richer. We have set our end-of-life (EOL) policy to help customers better manage their product end-of-life transition." The page then defines the three columns of its table under the heading Summary. Quoted exactly:

Meraki's termMeraki's definitionWhere it appears on this site
End-of-sale (EOS) announcement"Date of official end-of-sales notice, typically six months prior to the last order date."The Announcement column of Meraki's table; carried as a note on each model's page, not as a tracked lifecycle date
End-of-sale date"The last date to order the product through Cisco Meraki point-of-sale outlets. After this date, the product is no longer available for sale via any channel."The "active support" date on the Cisco Meraki page: the last day the model could be bought new
End-of-support (EOST) date"The last date a product will be affirmatively supported by Cisco Meraki, typically five years following the EOS date."The end-of-life date on the Cisco Meraki page and in the EOS Edge Device List

Two more lines from the page matter for planning. Under the table heading Meraki says: "If the SKU of a product is not shown below, then the announcement for the end-of-sale and end-of-support for the product has not been made yet." A model that is absent from the table has no dates, not hidden ones. And Meraki's Returns (RMAs), Warranties and End-of-Life Information page, which gives the MX, Z, MG, MS and indoor MR families a lifetime hardware warranty, footnotes the word lifetime: "Product lifetime ends at the product End-of-Support (EOST) date, as described in Cisco Meraki's End of Life (EOL) Policy." The End-of-Support date is therefore also the day the lifetime warranty on an MX84 runs out.

The dates page links to a fuller Product End-of-Life (EOL) Policy on meraki.cisco.com for the period between the two dates (firmware restrictions and dashboard connectivity). That page did not answer our reads on the day of publication, so this guide quotes only the definitions printed on the documentation page itself.

What changes for the MX84 on October 31, 2026

The MX84 has been off the price list since October 31, 2021; what ends on October 31, 2026 is the five-year tail of support that Meraki's policy attaches to every End-of-Sale date. After that day the MX84 is no longer "affirmatively supported by Cisco Meraki", in the page's words: no commitment to firmware, no support case and, per the warranty footnote, no lifetime-warranty replacement. The appliance keeps passing traffic for as long as it is powered and licensed; what it loses is a vendor standing behind it, and a Meraki MX is a firewall and VPN concentrator sitting on the internet edge, which is why the whole Meraki line is on our EOS Edge Device List alongside the Arista, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto and SonicWall platforms.

The MX84 is not alone. The MX100 reaches End-of-Support on February 1, 2027, the MX64 and MX64W on July 26, 2027 and the virtual vMX100 on December 22, 2027: within fourteen months, every MX model of that generation is past its date. The MX65 and MX65W already reached End-of-Support on May 28, 2026.

The nine access points dated July 21, 2026 share one row block in Meraki's table because they were announced together; Meraki gave them End-of-Sale dates spread across 2021 and 2022 but a single End-of-Support date. The vMX100 is the exception to the five-year rule: its End-of-Support date is seven years after its End-of-Sale date, as printed. Models whose End-of-Support date has already passed (MX600, MX400, Z1, MS220-8, the 2024 and 2025 access points and switches) are on the Cisco Meraki page.

Meraki models leaving sale in 2026, supported into 2031

These are the newest announcements on Meraki's table. Each model stops being orderable on its End-of-Sale date and, following the five-year pattern, stays supported into 2031. They are not end-of-life problems yet; they are the models to stop specifying in new designs.

Meraki's table also lists licences, mounts, antennas, power supplies, the MT sensors, Meraki Go, Systems Manager and the MERAKI-SUB subscription SKU with their own dates. They are outside what this site tracks as lifecycle data; the hardware rows above are the ones a network inventory needs.

What to do

  1. On an MX84: plan the replacement for before October 31, 2026. Meraki's table does not name a successor; the current MX models and their datasheets are on Meraki's own site, and the sizing question (throughput, VPN tunnel count, port count) is the one to answer before choosing. An appliance on its End-of-Support date is also at the end of its lifetime warranty, so a hardware failure after the date has no free replacement behind it.
  2. On an MX100, MX64, MX64W or vMX100: the same move, with dates in 2027: February 1, 2027, July 26, 2027 and December 22, 2027. The vMX100 is a virtual appliance, so its replacement is a licence change rather than a shipment, but the date is just as fixed.
  3. On the July 2026 access points (MR33, MR42, MR42E, MR45, MR52, MR53, MR53E, MR74, MR84) or an MX65: Meraki's date has passed. These are already outside Meraki's affirmative support.
  4. Buying an MS210, MS225, MS450-12, MX67C, MX68CW or a Wi-Fi 6 MR36-series access point: the last order dates are in 2026 and the support runs into 2031. They are safe to run; they are not safe to standardise on for new sites.
  5. Check the whole table, not one row. Meraki announces models in batches and a model listed on its own row carries its own dates: the MS350-48FP, MS355-48X, MS350-24 and MS120-8FP all left sale on different days from their series. The Cisco Meraki page re-reads Meraki's table at every build and shows each model's live status; the EOL Checker answers for a single model.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Cisco Meraki MX84 end of support?

Meraki's End-of-Life (EOL) Products and Dates page lists the MX84-HW with an End-of-Support date of October 31, 2026, five years after its End-of-Sale date of October 31, 2021. Meraki defines the End-of-Support date as the last date a product will be affirmatively supported by Cisco Meraki.

What is the difference between Meraki's End-of-Sale and End-of-Support dates?

In Meraki's words, the End-of-sale date is the last date to order the product through Cisco Meraki point-of-sale outlets, after which the product is no longer available for sale via any channel. The End-of-support (EOST) date is the last date a product will be affirmatively supported by Cisco Meraki, typically five years following the EOS date. The announcement comes typically six months prior to the last order date.

Which Meraki products leave sale in 2026?

On Meraki's page the MS210 and MS225 switch series reached End-of-Sale on April 30, 2026; the MS450-12 follows on October 29, 2026, the MX67C and MX68CW security appliances on November 27, 2026, and the MR36, MR36H, MR44, MR46 and MR46E access points on December 31, 2026. Each of those models keeps Meraki support for about five more years, into 2031.

Does a Meraki device stop working after its End-of-Support date?

Meraki's page defines the End-of-Support date as the last date the product is affirmatively supported by Cisco Meraki; it does not say the hardware switches off. Meraki's returns and warranty page adds that product lifetime, for the lifetime warranty on MX, MS and indoor MR hardware, ends at the product's End-of-Support date. A device past that date is one Meraki no longer commits to support, replace or update.
