Acronis Cyber Protect 16: Mainstream Support Ends October 28, 2026, Extended Support October 28, 2027
Acronis Cyber Protect 16 leaves Mainstream Support on October 28, 2026. Acronis's business products lifecycle page lists Cyber Protect 16 with a release date of February 21, 2024, a Mainstream Support End Date of October 28, 2026 and an Extended Support End Date of October 28, 2027. The first date is not the end of all support. It is the day the version moves to Acronis's Extended phase, which keeps fixes for critical issues and critical security issues but drops everything else, including cumulative updates. The second date is the end of fixes of any kind. Live status and EOL Risk Score are on the Acronis Cyber Protect 16 page; every version Acronis has dated is on the Acronis Cyber Protect page.

The dates, as Acronis prints them
These rows come from the Acronis Cyber Protect tab of Acronis's Support Lifecycle of Business Products table. Acronis's table also carries a Latest update column with a build number for each version; it changes as builds ship and is not repeated here.
| Version | Release Date | Mainstream Support End Date | Extended Support End Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acronis Cyber Protect 17 | October 28, 2025 | TBD | TBD |
| Acronis Cyber Protect 16 | February 21, 2024 | October 28, 2026 | October 28, 2027 |
| Acronis Cyber Protect 15 | September 9, 2020 | February 21, 2025 | February 21, 2026 |
The October date follows from Acronis's own rule. Its policy says Mainstream Support starts on the release date and lasts up until one year after the next product version is released. Cyber Protect 17 shipped on October 28, 2025, so Cyber Protect 16's Mainstream phase runs to the same day a year later. The same pattern held for version 15: Cyber Protect 16 shipped on February 21, 2024, and Cyber Protect 15's Mainstream phase ended on February 21, 2025.
What each phase covers
Acronis's Support Lifecycle Policy for Business Products has three phases. Mainstream is the phase in which all support services are available. Extended starts when Mainstream ends and, in Acronis's words, lasts "usually one year or until the next-but-one product version is released"; limited support services are provided. Self-Service is available throughout and for seven years after Extended Support ends, and covers Knowledge Base articles, FAQs, troubleshooting tools and other resources. The policy's table marks which services each phase includes:
| Type of support (Acronis's row) | Mainstream | Extended | Self-Service |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product documentation, Knowledge Base articles, and forum help on the Acronis website | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Full support by Acronis Support, including root cause investigation by developers for all severity issues | Yes | Yes | No |
| Product hotfixes/patches for critical issues, critical security issues, and OS support updates | Yes | Yes | No |
| Product hotfixes/patches for selected issues of any severity level | Yes | No | No |
| Cumulative updates, including new functionality | Yes | No | No |
Two footnotes on the same page limit what "support" means. A solution or workaround is provided at Acronis's discretion, and if an issue is resolved in a newer version, Acronis counts an upgrade as a valid solution. A bug fix for an issue of other severity goes on the product roadmap and is not guaranteed. The page also says Acronis provides full support for the three latest minor versions of a product and encourages customers to run the latest available build. Customers who want more than the Extended phase offers, such as developer investigation and hotfixes for issues of any severity, are told to contact their account manager or regional sales representative.
What October 28 changes for a Cyber Protect 16 installation
- Security fixes: hotfixes for critical security issues stay in the Extended phase until October 28, 2027. Security issues that Acronis does not rate critical are not on that row.
- New operating systems: OS support updates are on the same row as critical fixes, so they also continue in the Extended phase.
- Feature and cumulative updates: these stop at the end of Mainstream. New functionality reaches Cyber Protect 17 only.
- Support cases: Acronis Support keeps taking cases in the Extended phase, but the fix it offers may be an upgrade to version 17, which the policy counts as a valid solution.
Which product this covers
The dates in this guide are for the Acronis Cyber Protect product line on Acronis's business lifecycle page, the versioned product with releases 15, 16 and 17. The same page has separate tabs for Acronis Cyber Backup, Cyber Protect Connect, Snap Deploy, DeviceLock DLP, Disk Director and older products, each with its own dates. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, the service provider platform, does not appear in that table.
What to do
- Find the version you run: the major version (15, 16 or 17) decides which dates apply. Cyber Protect 15 reached the end of Extended Support on February 21, 2026 and now has self-service resources only.
- On Cyber Protect 16, stay on the latest build: Acronis supports the three latest minor versions and asks customers to run the latest build, and that applies in the Extended phase as well.
- Plan the move to Cyber Protect 17 before October 28, 2027: after that date version 16 gets no hotfixes of any kind. Acronis's upgrade documentation for version 17 is the source for the upgrade path from your build.
- Watch version 17's dates: Acronis prints them as TBD today. Under its policy, version 17's Mainstream phase ends one year after the next version ships. The Acronis Cyber Protect page re-reads Acronis's table, and the EOL Checker answers for a single version.
