Windows 11 25H2 End of Support: October 12, 2027 (Home and Pro)
Windows 11, version 25H2 reaches end of support on October 12, 2027 for the Home and Pro editions (Pro Education and Pro for Workstations follow the same date) and on October 10, 2028 for Enterprise and Education (with IoT Enterprise and Enterprise multi-session). Those are the "End of updates" dates in the servicing table on Microsoft's Windows 11 release information page, and the same rows appear on the Windows 11 Home and Pro and Enterprise and Education lifecycle pages. Windows 11 feature updates follow Microsoft's Modern Lifecycle Policy: the release information page says feature updates "come with 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro for Workstations, and Pro Education editions; 36 months of support for Enterprise and Education editions." Version 25H2 became available on September 30, 2025, so the two dates are its 24 and 36 months.

Every date and badge above is rewritten from Microsoft's pages at each build of this site. The day of each end date is the one printed on the release information page, where the servicing table is in ISO format; Microsoft's lifecycle product pages show the same rows with times in the Pacific time zone, and depending on the viewer's own time zone a browser can render those a calendar day later. The build number tells the versions apart where the marketing name does not: 25H2 is OS build 26200, 24H2 is 26100 and 26H2 is 26300; 26H1 is build 28000 and is a different animal, covered below. The LTSC row is here because it shares 24H2's build; it is a separate product with a fixed five-year life and does not take feature updates.
What "end of support" means for a 25H2 device
The device keeps working. What stops is the monthly cumulative update: no security fixes, no quality fixes, no Microsoft support for the version. There is no Extended Security Updates program to buy for a Windows 11 feature update; the Windows 10 ESU that our Windows 10 guide covers has no Windows 11 equivalent, and the answer to a 25H2 device reaching its date is the next version, which Windows Update offers automatically to consumer devices approaching the end of a version. The Home and Pro date, October 12, 2027, is a Patch Tuesday, and it is the same day that 24H2 Enterprise and Education reach their own end date, so two Windows 11 clocks run out together that month; our 24H2 guide covers that version's Home and Pro date of October 13, 2026.
26H1 is not the next step. The release information page carries a note that Windows 11, version 26H1 "is scoped to support new devices that started coming to market in early 2026 and is not designed as a feature update for existing devices", and "is not offered as an in-place update from 24H2 or 25H2 on existing devices." It is in the table because it exists and has its own dates; a 25H2 fleet does not move to it. The page also notes that IoT Enterprise is not supported on 26H1.
What to do
- Home and Pro fleets: a year to take 26H2. The 25H2 Home and Pro date is October 12, 2027; 26H2 Home and Pro run to October 10, 2028. It is an enablement package, so the project is a pilot and a ring schedule, not an image rebuild.
- Enterprise and Education: you have until October 10, 2028, but the same package gets you a version supported to October 9, 2029. Note that 26H2 removes WMIC entirely, including as a Feature on Demand, per the What's new page; scripts that still call it need attention before the pilot, not after.
- Still on 24H2? Do that first. 24H2 Home and Pro reach their date on October 13, 2026; the enablement package from 24H2 goes straight to 26H2, so a 24H2 fleet can skip 25H2 altogether.
- Check the build, not the marketing name. 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2 are builds 26100, 26200 and 26300; an inventory that keys on the major version alone will not tell them apart. Our EOL Checker and API resolve all three.
- Ignore 26H1 for existing devices. Microsoft does not offer it as an in-place update from 24H2 or 25H2.
- LTSC is not affected. Enterprise LTSC 2024 runs to October 9, 2029 on its own policy and does not take feature updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Windows 11 25H2 end of support?
October 12, 2027 for Windows 11 25H2 Home and Pro (and Pro Education and Pro for Workstations), and October 10, 2028 for Enterprise and Education, per Microsoft's Windows 11 release information page. Microsoft ships security updates for an edition until its date and not after.
What happens to a Windows 11 25H2 PC after October 12, 2027?
It keeps running, but a Home or Pro device on 25H2 receives no further security or quality updates. Windows Update offers version 26H2 as the way back into support, through an enablement package rather than a full upgrade.
Is moving from Windows 11 25H2 to 26H2 a full upgrade?
No. Microsoft's What's new in Windows 11, version 26H2 says 26H2 is delivered as an enablement package for eligible devices running versions 25H2 and 24H2, with fast installation and a single restart in most scenarios, because 26H2, 25H2 and 24H2 share a common servicing branch. Version 26H1 is different: Microsoft says it is scoped to new devices and is not offered as an in-place update from 24H2 or 25H2.
How long is Windows 11 26H2 supported?
Windows 11 26H2, released September 29, 2026, is supported until October 10, 2028 for Home and Pro and until October 9, 2029 for Enterprise and Education, per Microsoft's Windows 11 release information page.
