What each phase covers
Data Grid is covered by Red Hat's Application Services Product Update and Support Policy:
- Full Support: all available and qualified patches are applied through periodic product updates and cumulative patches, or as required for qualified security patches rated Critical, Important, or Moderate with a CVSS score of 7 or higher.
- Maintenance Support: qualified security patches of Critical or Important impact, as well as select mission-critical bug-fix patches, are released.
- Extended Life Support: requires an ELS subscription in addition to the base subscription, with decreasing support and maintenance over time.
The policy also says defect and security fixes are provided only for the latest minor, micro or cumulative patch release.
What to do
- On 8.5: move to 8.6 now; 8.5's Maintenance Support has ended and Red Hat lists no ELS for it.
- On 8.6: stay on the latest 8.6 patch release; after December 31, 2026 only Critical and Important security patches and select mission-critical fixes ship.
- Decide on ELS before December 31, 2027 if the grid must run longer on 8.6.
- Check other versions: the Red Hat Data Grid page re-reads Red Hat's data, and the EOL Checker answers for a single version.
