The quarterly release rule
Liferay's policy describes DXP's release model: features ship in a Quarterly Release each quarter. Each calendar year, the Q1 Quarterly Release is designated the Long-Term Support version, with a three-year Premium Support Phase followed by a two-year Limited Support Phase. Other Quarterly Releases have a one-year Premium Support Phase and, in Liferay's words, "for clarity, no Limited Support Phase". The Premium Support Phase begins on the General Availability Date.
So a site on 2025.Q4 has two kinds of target. A later quarterly release keeps the one-year rhythm: 2026.Q2 and 2026.Q3 are supported into 2027. The 2026.Q1 LTS release trades new features each quarter for a longer runway: Premium Support until March 17, 2029 and Limited Support until March 17, 2031.

- Check the release: the quarterly release name (2025.Q4, 2026.Q1 and so on) decides the dates, not the patch level.
- Pick the target: the 2026.Q1 LTS release for a long runway, or the newest quarterly release to keep receiving features each quarter.
