LibreOffice 26.2 reaches end of life on November 30, 2026. LibreOffice 25.8 reached it on June 12, 2026, and the current line, 26.8, runs to June 13, 2027. The dates are from The Document Foundation's release plan, which lists every planned release of each line and states that a line is considered end of life one month after its last planned release. For 26.2 that last release is 26.2.7, planned for late October 2026.

How LibreOffice support works
- A new major version every six months, in February and August.
- Two lines at a time. The release plan describes the latest line as the one for early adopters and power users, and the previous line, with fewer features but tested for longer, as the one for organisations and cautious users.
- Bug fix releases, including security fixes, run to the .7 release, monthly at first and then less often. The plan advises conservative users to wait for the third or fourth bug fix release of a line before adopting it.
- End of life is one month after the last planned release. In practice a line lasts about ten months, and an organisation that adopts it at the fourth bug fix release gets about six months of use before it has to move again.
- No technical support from the project. The Document Foundation says so on its business page, and strongly recommends that schools, research institutions and large organisations use LibreOffice Enterprise versions from its ecosystem partners, which come with long-term service level agreements, support and fixes.
What to do
- On 25.8 or older: past end of life. Move to the latest 26.2 release now, or to 26.8 if you are comfortable on the newer line.
- On 26.2: supported until November 30, 2026. Plan the move to 26.8 for after its third or fourth bug fix release and before that date.
