HashiCorp Vault 1.20 End of Life: October 31, 2026

By Scott Bissett  ·  Published: October 29, 2026  ·  Reference guide  ·  Dates read from IBM's HashiCorp Self-Managed Product Support Lifecycle Addendum (modified September 25, 2026) on the day of publication.

HashiCorp Vault 1.20 reaches End of Mod/Fix Support on October 31, 2026. The date is in IBM's HashiCorp Self-Managed Product Support Lifecycle Addendum, the page IBM publishes for IBM Vault Self-Managed (product ID 5900-BJF), the Vault Enterprise line since HashiCorp became part of IBM. After that day IBM no longer delivers fixes for 1.20. Vault 1.21, released after 1.20, and Vault 1.19, a Long Term Support release, both keep receiving fixes for six more months.

Why 1.20 ends before the release that came before it. Vault 1.19 is an LTS release, so it outlives the standard releases around it. IBM's addendum covers the HashiCorp releases shipped between March 2025 and April 2026 and sets each one's last fix date; 1.20 has the earliest of them.
Quick answer: The HashiCorp Vault 1.20 end-of-life (EOL) date is October 31, 2026. Every HashiCorp Vault version's release and end-of-support date is on the HashiCorp Vault lifecycle page.

How HashiCorp support is changing

IBM's addendum describes three groups of HashiCorp self-managed releases:

What to do

  1. Find the version on each cluster: vault status and vault version both print it.
  2. On 1.20: plan the move off it now. After October 31, 2026 IBM delivers no more fixes for the line.
  3. The shortest hop: Vault 1.21 receives fixes until April 30, 2027. That buys six months, not a long-term home.
  4. For a longer horizon: look at a Vault 2 version, and confirm its dates in IBM's lifecycle information before you upgrade. They are not on the addendum.
