Red Hat Satellite 6.19: Full Support Ends November 2026 (Estimated)

By Scott Bissett  ·  Published: October 7, 2026  ·  Reference guide  ·  Dates read at Red Hat's Product Life Cycles data for Red Hat Satellite on October 7, 2026.

Red Hat Satellite 6.19 leaves Full Support in November 2026, a month Red Hat publishes as an estimate ("Estimated Nov, 2026" in its Product Life Cycles data) with no day named. From that point 6.19 is in Maintenance Support, which Red Hat estimates, again by month only, to run to November 2027. Red Hat Satellite 6.19 was released on May 6, 2026, the day 6.18 left Full Support (May 6, 2026). Two older lines carry firmer and nearer dates: Red Hat Satellite 6.17 reaches the end of Maintenance Support on November 28, 2026, and Red Hat Satellite 6.16 left Maintenance Support on May 31, 2026, continuing only for buyers of the Extended Update Support add-on, to May 31, 2027.

Quick answer: Red Hat Satellite 6.19 is in Full Support until November 2026, a month Red Hat lists only as an estimate; Maintenance Support then runs to an estimated November 2027. Red Hat Satellite 6.18 has been in Maintenance Support since May 6, 2026, to an estimated May 2027. Red Hat Satellite 6.17 reaches the end of Maintenance Support on November 28, 2026. Red Hat Satellite 6.16 left Maintenance Support on May 31, 2026; its paid Extended Update Support add-on runs to May 31, 2027. Every version's dates are on the Red Hat Satellite lifecycle page.

Where Red Hat prints an estimate with no day, this guide prints the month and says so; it does not invent a day. Red Hat's end-of-Maintenance date for 6.17 is November 28, 2026, not the month-end date that some third-party trackers list; the cell above is bound to the date Red Hat publishes.

What Full Support and Maintenance Support mean

Red Hat's policy page defines four stages for every Red Hat Satellite minor version (6.x): Full Support from general availability, then Maintenance Support, then the End of Life milestone, with an optional paid Extended Update Support phase for selected versions. Both production phases deliver Critical and Important security errata (RHSAs) and Urgent and selected High Priority bug-fix errata (RHBAs). What changes at the end of Full Support is everything else. In Full Support, Red Hat may also release lower-priority errata, new or improved hardware support and selected enhanced functionality, and it is the phase in which Z-stream (6.x.z) releases ship. The policy page is explicit: "Satellite Z-Streams releases are available only during the Full Support phase." In Maintenance Support, other bug fixes (RHBAs) and enhancements (RHEAs) may be released at Red Hat's discretion but, in the page's words, should not be expected.

At the end of Maintenance Support a version enters the End of Life milestone. Red Hat says no errata or software updates are provided for such versions; the server can still sync repositories, but technical support is limited to problems with upgrading to a fully supported version. The exception is Extended Update Support, an optional paid add-on that Red Hat offers for selected versions beginning with 6.16, for one year after Maintenance Support ends, with Z-stream releases continuing in the EUS repositories.

Two further rules from the same page shape every plan. First, support is N-2: the current minor release and the two before it are supported at the same time, which today means 6.19, 6.18 and 6.17, and 6.16 only through its EUS add-on. During an upgrade, Capsule Servers follow an N-1 rule: Capsules on the immediately previous minor version are supported alongside the current Satellite server. Second, the Red Hat Satellite life cycle is independent of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux life cycle; the operating system under a Satellite server has its own dates.

The policy page states no fixed phase lengths. The pattern in Red Hat's published dates for 6.16 through 6.19 is roughly six months of Full Support and roughly eighteen months from general availability to the end of Maintenance Support, with a new minor release each spring and autumn. That is an observation about the dates, not a published rule, which is why this guide prints the dates themselves.

What to do, version by version

On Red Hat Satellite 6.19

Nothing is urgent. 6.19 stays in Maintenance Support until Red Hat's estimated November 2027, so it keeps receiving Critical and Important security errata through 2027. What stops when Full Support ends in November 2026 is the flow of Z-stream releases and discretionary fixes: a bug that is not Critical, Important or Urgent is unlikely to be fixed in 6.19 after that month. Red Hat's Product Life Cycles data listed no release after 6.19 when this guide was written, so there is no 6.20 date to plan an upgrade around yet; when Red Hat lists one, it will appear on the Red Hat Satellite lifecycle page.

On Red Hat Satellite 6.18

6.18 has been in Maintenance Support since May 6, 2026 and Red Hat estimates that phase ends in May 2027. It is supported, but it no longer gets Z-streams. Plan the move to 6.19 for the next maintenance window that suits you rather than the last one that fits.

On Red Hat Satellite 6.17

6.17 is the deadline on this page. Maintenance Support ends on November 28, 2026, after which Red Hat provides no errata and supports only the upgrade itself. Full Support already ended on November 30, 2025. Red Hat lists no Extended Update Support phase for 6.17, so there is no paid bridge; the only route to continued errata is an upgrade, and Red Hat's upgrade documentation and its Satellite Upgrade Helper define the supported path between versions. Schedule it before the end of November.

On Red Hat Satellite 6.16

On a standard subscription 6.16 is past end of life: Maintenance Support ended May 31, 2026. It is the first version for which Red Hat offers the Extended Update Support add-on, which Red Hat's data lists as running to May 31, 2027. If that add-on is on your subscription, 6.16 still receives errata and Z-streams until then; if it is not, the server syncs content but is unpatched, and the upgrade should not wait for a budget cycle.

Checklist

  1. Record the exact version of every Satellite server and Capsule. The N-2 rule is applied per minor version, and a Capsule more than one minor behind its Satellite server is outside Red Hat's upgrade support rule.
  2. Treat 6.17 as a November task. Its Maintenance Support ends November 28, 2026; book the upgrade window now.
  3. Check whether a 6.16 server actually has the EUS add-on. Without it, 6.16 has received nothing since May 31, 2026.
  4. Do not wait for 6.20 to leave 6.17 or 6.18. It is not in Red Hat's life cycle data yet; 6.19 is the only version in Full Support.
  5. Check the operating system separately. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux dates under each Satellite server are on their own schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does Red Hat Satellite 6.19 leave Full Support?

In November 2026. Red Hat's Product Life Cycles data prints the end of Full Support for Red Hat Satellite 6.19 as an estimate, with the month but no day, and prints the end of Maintenance Support the same way as an estimated November 2027. Red Hat Satellite 6.19 was released on May 6, 2026. Until Red Hat publishes a day, treat the whole of November 2026 as the window in which Z-stream releases for 6.19 stop.

Is Red Hat Satellite 6.17 still supported?

Yes, in Maintenance Support, until November 28, 2026, the day Red Hat's Product Life Cycles data names as the end of Maintenance Support for Red Hat Satellite 6.17. Its Full Support ended November 30, 2025, so it has received only qualified Critical and Important security errata and urgent bug fixes since then, and no Z-stream releases. Red Hat lists no Extended Update Support phase for 6.17.

Is Red Hat Satellite 6.16 end of life?

On a standard subscription, yes: Maintenance Support for Red Hat Satellite 6.16 ended May 31, 2026, and Red Hat's policy page says a version at the end of Maintenance Support enters the End of Life milestone, with no errata or software updates. 6.16 is the first version eligible for the paid Extended Update Support add-on, which Red Hat's data lists as running to May 31, 2027. Without that add-on, a 6.16 server can still sync repositories but gets technical support only for upgrade issues.

What is the difference between Full Support and Maintenance Support for Red Hat Satellite?

Both phases deliver Critical and Important security errata and urgent or selected high-priority bug fixes. The difference is everything else: in Full Support, Red Hat may also ship lower-priority errata, new or improved hardware support and selected enhancements, and it ships Z-stream releases; its policy page says Z-stream releases are available only during the Full Support phase. In Maintenance Support, other bug fixes and enhancements may appear at Red Hat's discretion but, in Red Hat's words, should not be expected.

What should Red Hat Satellite 6.17 and 6.18 upgrade to?

Red Hat Satellite 6.19, the only version still in Full Support. Red Hat's Product Life Cycles data listed no release after 6.19 when this guide was written, so 6.20 is not yet a target anyone can plan a date around. 6.17 has the deadline: its Maintenance Support ends November 28, 2026. 6.18 has been in Maintenance Support since May 6, 2026 and Red Hat estimates that phase runs to May 2027. Red Hat's upgrade documentation and its Satellite Upgrade Helper define the supported path between versions, including the N-1 rule for Capsule Servers during an upgrade.
