Oracle Legacy Middleware End of Life: Discoverer, Endeca, Forms 11g — and Why Oracle Never Says “Dead”

By Scott Bissett  ·  Published: August 29, 2026  ·  Dates verified against Oracle’s Lifetime Support Policy brochure for Oracle Fusion Middleware (effective April 13, 2026) and our tracked lifecycle data — methodology

Search for “Oracle Endeca end of life” or “Oracle Discoverer end of life” and you will find something strange: no answer. No announcement, no retirement notice, no date. That is not an accident of bad SEO — it is how Oracle’s support model works. Oracle products never officially die. They descend a ladder — Premier Support, then Extended Support, then Sustaining Support — and the bottom rung lasts forever. A product in Sustaining Support still has a support phone number. What it does not have is patches: no new bug fixes, no new security fixes, no new certifications, ever again.

So the honest answer to “when did it die?” is: the day its last support phase that shipped patches ended. This page gives that date, from Oracle’s own Lifetime Support brochure, for the legacy middleware people still run and still search for.

Key Dates at a Glance

Why there is never a death date

Oracle’s Lifetime Support Policy has three phases. Premier Support (typically five years from GA) is full support. Extended Support (up to three more years, for some products, at an uplift) still ships security fixes. Sustaining Support is what comes after, and it is the reason these products have no end-of-life date: it never ends. You keep the ticket queue, the knowledge base and every patch already published. You lose everything that requires an engineer to write new code — which, for security purposes, is everything that matters. An auditor should treat a Sustaining-only product exactly like end-of-life software, because from a patching standpoint it is.

Oracle Discoverer end of life

Discoverer 11gR1 (11.1.1.x) — the final Discoverer — reached GA in June 2009, left Premier Support in June 2014 and Extended Support in June 2017. That June 2017 date is the last time a new Discoverer patch was produced; the brochure lists Sustaining Support as indefinite. There was no Discoverer 12c. Oracle’s own migration advice has long pointed Discoverer users at its analytics stack (OBIEE, then Oracle Analytics) — a re-platform, not an upgrade. A Discoverer install in 2026 has been unpatched for nine years.

Oracle Endeca end of life

Endeca split into two product lines after Oracle’s 2011 acquisition, and they died separately:

The e-commerce Guided Search deployments built on Endeca were folded into Oracle Commerce, whose on-premises line has likewise wound down in favor of cloud replacements. If Endeca still powers your site search, every layer of it is years past its last patch.

Forms, Reports and Portal: 11g is done — the product line is not

Forms, Reports and Portal 11gR1 share Discoverer’s dates: Premier ended June 2014, Extended ended June 2017. Forms and Reports 11gR2 ran a little longer — Premier to December 2016, Extended to December 2018. Both are Sustaining-only today.

The difference from Discoverer and Endeca: Forms is still alive. Current Oracle Fusion Middleware 14.1 (GA December 2024) includes Forms and carries Premier Support to December 2030 and Extended Support to December 2033. An 11g Forms estate has a real upgrade path inside the product family — the work is real but it is an upgrade, not a rewrite. Portal and Reports users are not so lucky: both are discontinued, with Oracle pointing Reports users at BI Publisher.

The database cousins: 11g and 12c

The same searches usually travel with database questions, and those products we track live. Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2) left Extended Support on December 31, 2020; 12.1 followed on July 31, 2022; 12.2’s support ended March 31, 2022 with no Extended phase offered. All three are Sustaining-only now. Current dates, Market-Driven Support nuances and the 19c/23ai picture are on the dedicated Oracle Database EOL and Oracle 19c pages, with live tracking on the product page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Oracle Discoverer still supported?

No new fixes since June 2017, when Extended Support for Discoverer 11gR1 ended. It is in indefinite Sustaining Support: tickets answered, existing patches available, nothing new ever produced.

When did Oracle Endeca reach end of life?

Endeca Server 7.4’s Extended Support ended September 2020; Endeca Information Discovery 3.2’s Premier Support ended February 2021 with no Extended phase offered. Both lines are Sustaining-only since.

What is Oracle Sustaining Support?

The indefinite phase after Premier and Extended: support access and existing patches, but no new bug fixes, security fixes or certifications, ever. For security purposes it is end of life without the announcement.

Is Oracle Forms end of life?

Forms 11g is (Extended Support ended June 2017 for 11gR1, December 2018 for 11gR2), but the product continues in current Fusion Middleware 14.1, supported to December 2030 (Premier) and December 2033 (Extended). Upgrade, don’t bury.
