Looker 26.12 End of Support: November 2026 (Looker original)
Looker 26.12 reaches the end of its support period in November 2026. The date is on Google's Officially supported releases page for Looker (original), which lists 26.12 as an extended support release (ESR). Its standard support period and its ESR period end in the same month. Google publishes these dates to the month only, so this page does too. Google's release notes announced Looker 26.12 on July 9, 2026.

What end of support means at Google
Google gives active support to the most recent Looker minor release, the two minor releases before it, and the most recent extended support release. Its Looker Support page says support is available only on instances running an officially supported Looker version, and tells owners of customer-hosted instances on an unsupported version to update to a supported one. So once 26.12's support period ends, Looker Support is not available for an instance still running it.
Google's release overview makes the customer responsible for updating a customer-hosted instance and says it is very important to stay on the latest supported release. When a release is ready, each Technical Contact for the organization is emailed a link to the update file (a JAR), the release notes and installation instructions.
How Looker's extended support releases work
Google designates every third minor release as an extended support release. An ESR gets three months of support after it is declared stable, and Google patches Severity 1 and Severity 2 issues back to it where relevant and possible. Customers on the ESR program update 4 times a year instead of 11. Each new ESR has a one-month staging period, and the program requires the new version to be tested on a staging server before production moves to it. Customers opt in through Google Cloud Support or their account team.
Which release to move to
- On the ESR program: Looker 26.18 is the next ESR. Google's table puts its ESR staging period in November 2026 and its ESR period from December 2026 to February 2027, so the staging test of 26.18 belongs in the last month of 26.12's support.
- On the standard monthly cycle: Google advises the latest supported release. Looker 26.20 is supported to December 2026 and 26.22 to January 2027. Google's release notes give each release's expected download date for customer-hosted instances.
What to do
- Find every customer-hosted Looker (original) instance and the release it runs, staging servers included.
- Back up before updating. Google strongly advises against rolling back to an earlier version and says a complete backup before each update is what allows a restore.
- Update before the end of November 2026, testing on a staging instance first.
